PUBLIC VIEWPOINT: Hobson Impolite To Christians

— I am shamed to see one of your writers stoop to a level I haven’t seen from the newspaper. Art Hobson can be quoted as saying that Christians “dumb down our entire society” in his article March 6.

I know it’s his right to say what he wants but to stoop to namecalling shows his maturity level.

That’s what my little kids do.

We, as Christians, have had most of our rights stripped from us without someone calling us “dumb.” I guess he believes all of our Founding Fathers and almost all of our presidents are stupid for their beliefs. It is sad in our society that people can publicly condemn someone for believing in something that means so much to so many and has been around a lot longer than “science.” But just like Christians, Mr. Hobson isnot perfect.

PRICES ARE RISING

I would like to reflect on the cost of living raises that the disabled and retired people are not receiving. Gas prices are going up steadily, which is making the grocery prices go up. But when gas prices go down, the grocery price remains high. Some distributors are lowering their prices but not telling you that they are lowering the quantity of the products. They deceive us by saying that they are lowering the prices of the products. Instead of getting 16 ounces, you’re only receiving 12. By not using our oil reserves we are paying other countries more for oil to supporttheir wars.

It is time that our government stop aiding these foreign countries and help the American people.

This is the unprecedented second year in a row that we have not received a cost of living raise, but the lottery director and university officials are receiving healthy raises for the cost of living.

It’s even hard to find a primary care physician because the government has lowered what they are paid. Sometimes they have to file three or four times before they can be paid. It’s time government started helping the American people. It is time for all people to contact their elected government officials and let their voices be heard.
