Officials: Weak tornado hit Carroll County

— The weather system that spawned a deadly tornado in Washington County is believed to have produced a far weaker one in northern Carroll County, a National Weather Service official said Tuesday.

The tornado is believed to have damaged a barn and trees near the Carroll Countycommunity of Blue Eye before it crossed into Missouri, said Ed Calianese, the weather service’s warning coordination meteorologist in Tulsa.

The damage occurred about 8 a.m. Friday, Calianese said. Photos were expected to be sent to the Tulsa office today to confirm whether it was caused by a tornado, Calianese said.

The weather service hasbeen trying to determine since Friday whether the storm that swept across Northwest Arkansas produced tornadoes other than the one that struck the Washington County community of Cincinnati at 6:09 a.m., destroying 17 homes and killing four people.

“We’re trying to document this event as thoroughly as we can,” Calianese said.
