EVANSVILLE 3, ARKANSAS STATE 2

JONESBORO - Arkansas State (2-6) fell to Evansville (2-4) in the final game of a three-game series at Tomlinson Stadium, losing two out of three to the Purple Aces.

The Red Wolves had a chance to tie the game in the bottom of the ninth, but after Todd Baumgartner walked, Jordan Castaldo flied out to left field to end it.

Ryan Emery had two hits for ASU while Baumgartner and Michael George each drove in a run.

Cody Fick picked up the victory for Evansville and Adam Culiver got the save. Daniel Wright took the loss for the Red Wolves, allowing 3 runs on 7 hits in 6 innings. He struck out six and walked two.

UALR 11, BRADLEY 7

Jason Houston had four hits and scored two runs to give UALR (3-5) its first home victory this season, beating Bradley (4-3) at Gary Hogan Field inLittle Rock.

The Trojans had a season-high 15 hits. Hector Acosta, Casey McCollum and Jake Rowell each had two hits.

Dillon Wilson allowed four hits in five innings to pick up the victory.

For Bradley, Bob Schuch went 2 for 3 with a RBI.

SOUTHLAND

CENTRAL ARKANSAS 3, EASTERN ILLINOIS 2

CONWAY - Junior pitcher Ryan Angus struck out 10 and threw a complete game to help Central Arkansas (6-0) complete a three-game sweep of Eastern Illinois (0-6) at Bear Stadium.

The Bears are one victory away from tying the best start in school history (1927, 2006).

Senior catcher Michael Pair had two hits and two RBI to lead UCA.

For Eastern Illinois, Cam Strang hit a RBI single and Ryan Dineen had the Panthers’ other RBI. Christian Slazinik took the loss for the Panthers, allowing 3 runs on 5 hits in 4 innings.
