JACKFORK/RABBIT RIDGE TRAILS, PINNACLE MOUNTAIN STATE PARK

Location:

Visitor Center is 2.6 miles west of Interstate 430 on Cantrell Road, then 5.1 miles north on Pinnacle Valley Road.

Follow signs to Visitor Center.

Trailhead is on the south side of the lower Visitor Center parking lot.

Length:

The Jackfork Mountain Biking Trail totals 7.4 miles,but most of it simply winds back and forth parallel to Pinnacle Valley Road. Rabbit Ridge Mountain Biking Trail trailhead is at the intersection of the Visitor Center road and Pinnacle Valley Road. It’s a flat 0.65 miles.

Recommended:

Hike the 0.73 miles downhill to Rabbit Ridge; walk that trail and hike back up Jackfork for a fairly easy and scenic 2.1 mile trek.

Main attractions:

These two new single-track trails,although built for mountain bikes, offer Pinnacle hikers fresh, shaded paths to trek.

Dog, bike; tyke friendly?

Yes to all three. Hikers and pooches yield to the bikers.
