Young Volunteers Rewarded

— Volunteers age 6 to 18 who have made a positive impact on their communities, may be nominated for the Kohl’s Cares Scholarship Program.

Nominations will be accepted through March 15 at kohlskids.com.

Those submitting the nominations online may be parents, teachers, neighbors or friends, but must be over 21 years old.

Each of the 1,089 stores nationwide may have two nominees winning a $50 Kohl’s gift card.

There will be more than 200 regional scholarships worth $1,000 toward postsecondary education.

Ten national winners will be awarded a total of $10,000 in scholarships for post-secondary education.

Kohl’s will donate $1,000 to a nonprofi t organization on behalf of each of the 10 national winners.

Since the Kohl’s Cares Scholarship Program began in 2001, it has awarded more than 13,000 young volunteers with more than $2.6 million in scholarships and prizes.

It is part of Kohl’s Cares, which supports children’s health and education activities nationwide.

Past winners included Julie Vice, 18, of Fayetteville, and Remy Deckard, 9, of Garfi eld.
