Window Washer Injured in Accident

— A window washer was injured Friday when a truck struck a lift he was on and pushed him into a window at the University of Arkansas.

Raymond D. Sanders, 58, was listed in fair condition Friday afternoon at Washington Regional Medical Center.

The accident required University Police to block portions of Stadium Drive, near Maple and West Meadow streets.

University Police Lt. Gary Crain said the accident happened on Stadium Drive at the Bev Lewis Center for Women’s Athletics.

University staff member Drew Matthews, 26, was reportedly traveling north in a GMC box truck when he struck a boom lift carrying Sanders.

The impact reportedly knocked Sanders into a windowpane, which shattered.

“He didn’t go through the window, he just broke it,” Crain said.

Sanders, who works for Clear View Pros, out of Texarkana, Texas, reportedly suffered various cuts, but his injuries weren’t life-threatening, Crain said.

No citations were issued in the accident Friday, Crain said.
