Trainers in training get scholarships at brunch

— Before heading off to pressing game-day responsibilities, the University of Arkansas honored five recipients of Weber/Ferrell Athletic Training Scholarships during an Oct. 23 brunch at University House.

The scholarships are named for longtime UA trainers Dean Weber and the late Bill Ferrell. This year’s honorees are Kurt Andrews of Rochester, Mich.; Jon Hochstetler of Mackinaw, Ill.; Taylor Ludy of Kirkland, Wash.; Hillary Plummer of Snellville, Ga.; and Brittany Widman of Blaine, Minn. (A sixth student trainer was also at the event: Catherine Horita of Atkins, the first recipient of the Zachary Brian Hooper Memorial Award in Athletic Training. The scholarship is named for a UA student trainer from Camden who died in a motorcycle accident in 2009.)

Scholarship recipients were honored before the Razorbacks’ game against the University of Mississippi.
