Police Arrest Man In Connection With Firing Gun Near Officer

— A Springdale man was in the Benton County Jail on Sunday in connection with discharging a gun in a Springdale neighborhood.

David Anthony Milam, 24, of 4558 Kimberly Place, was arrested Saturday in connection with felony aggravated assault and misdemeanor fi rstdegree assault and possession of drug paraphernalia.

A Springdale police officer responded to a report of multiple gunshots being fi red in the 4500 block of Kimberly Place, according to a police report.

The offcer spoke with the caller who gave him directions where he thought the shots came from, police said.

While the off icer was searching the area, he said he noticed the fl ash from the muzzle of a gun being dischargedfrom a nearby residence, police said.

The officer reported he feared the man might fire again and he was exposed in the middle of a yard.

The report said the off cer went to Milam’s back door, took cover and order Milam to drop the gun.

The officer reported he heard something that sounded like a gun hitting the fl oor and ordered Milam to show his hands.

The officer place Milamunder arrest and he and backup officer searched the residence.

Officers found Milam’s roommate in the kitchen area with his hands up, according to police. Milam’s roommate was arrested on an outstanding misdemeanor warrant, police said.

Officers found six spent shell casings from a .380-caliber, semi-automatic handgun in the area Milam was fi ring from, police said.

During a search of the residence, officers found additional ammunition and drug paraphernalia, police said.

Offcers listed no reason for Milam’s actions in their initial report.

Milam was being held Sunday in the Benton County Jail in lieu of a $10,000 bond.
