— A 72-year-old Fayetteville man has been sentenced to federal prison and lifetime supervision for possessing child pornography.

Italo Verdecchia pleaded guilty in U.S. District Court in June to four counts of knowingly receiving child pornography and one count of possessing the images on a computer hard drive.

U.S. District Judge Jimm Hendren on Friday sentenced Verdecchia to five years in prison on each charge, to run concurrently, and ordered lifetime supervised release along with a $5,000 fine.
