Where I live: I live in a house on a hill in west Fayetteville. I was vaguely considering buying a house, and just started driving around neighborhoods in Fayetteville that I didn’t even know existed. Once I saw the flier for this house, I knew I had to see inside. It’s got picture windows all across the front, and it’s a very open space.
Occupation: I own my own business called A.L. Media and Consulting. It is a writing, public relations and sustainability-consulting business. I have an office on the Fayetteville square, which is a cool space. I have a journalism degree from the University of Missouri. I worked at daily newspapers, and at Wal-Mart for 12 years [where] I started the company magazine. I was asked to help the sustainability team in 2005 and met with the sustainable-value networks across the company. I found it fascinating, and wanted to stay in that line. Right now, I’m working on freelance writing assignments and with Seven Hills Homeless Center in Fayetteville. I was recently named to their board of directors.
My favorite space: My deck.
Why? It’s beautiful, and it’s peaceful. Between me and my next-door neighbor it’s just a patch of woods in the middle of the city.
If I could do one thing to improve this space I would: I need to tackle landscaping. I want to plant some dogwood trees, and I need to plant some ground cover.
