WASHINGTON COUNTY RELIGION NOTES

The Rev. Bryan Fink will preach Sunday at Central United Methodist Church in Fayetteville. Fink was the church’s associate pastor of discipleship from 2004 to 2008 and is currently the senior pastor at Asbury United Methodist Church in Little Rock.

He will preach at the 8:30 a.m. traditional service in the sanctuary and the 9:40 and 11 a.m. contemporary services in the Central Activities Center.

The Walnut Street Church of Christ in Rogers, 4201 W. Walnut St., will host a gospel meeting Aug. 4-8. Bryan Christmas of Pasadena, Texas, will teach on the theme of “The Cross of Christ.” The series will run from Wednesday through Saturday at 7 p.m., with a worship service Aug. 8 at 10:30 a.m. A potluck lunch will follow the Sunday service, with congregational singing and a devotional service at 2 p.m.

A community event to rebuild Iglesia Fe y Poder En Jesus is slated for 4:30 p.m. today at The Jones Center in Springdale. The band Conjunto Manantial from Oklahoma City, Okla., will perform. The evening also will feature skits, food, inflatable games and a raffle for a TV. There is no charge to attend.

The fourth annual Northwest Arkansas Emergency Preparedness Fair is slated for Aug. 21 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Bentonville, 1101 McCollum Road. Hours are 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. The free event will feature more than 50 booths sponsored by civic, government and corporate organizations to help people prepare for natural disasters and domestic emergencies. There will be a free lunch, free 72-hour kits, free child photo IDs and much more.

A Marriage Encounter-United Methodist is slated for Aug. 13-15 at the Courtyard by Marriott in Bentonville. The summer retreat will allow couples to create memories while re-energizing their marriages. Topics covered include marriage in today’s world, God’s desire for marriage, spousal communication, listening, and expressing and accepting feelings.

The ministry has touched the lives of thousands of married couples locally and around the globe.

Bella Vista Lutheran Church, 1990 Forest Hills Blvd., will host a Wii Bowling Tournament on Aug. 7. The free tournament is open to players in two age groups: first through fourth grade and fifth through eighth grade. Each youngster needs to be accompanied by an adult.

Prizes of $30, $20 and $10 await the winners of each age group.

Door prizes and Game Stop gift certificates also will be given. The event starts at 8:30 a.m. with a pancake breakfast. Children will take turns at the consoles. Winners will be notified by phone.
