Memorial Event Set For Gauldin

— A memorial gathering in honor of Mike Gauldin, a former journalist who became press secretary for Bill Clinton when he was governor of Arkansas, will be from 6 to 9 p.m. Aug. 13 at the McIlroy Room in the Cosmopolitan Hotel in Fayetteville.

Gauldin died last week after battling brain cancer. He was 55.

Gauldin worked for Arkansas newspapers, including the former Springdale News, and taught journalism at the University of Arkansas. He became Clinton’s press secretary in 1982. When Clinton became president, Gauldin was among those who followed him to Washington, D.C., working as a spokesman for the U.S. Department of the Interior.

The Fayetteville gathering is open to all who knew Gauldin. Friends and colleagues will share stories.
