FAYETTEVILLE — Mark Horvath, the founder of Invisible People.tv, will bring his “Road Trip, USA” to the University of Arkansas Global Campus at 6 p.m. Saturday.
Horvath will speak in Room 107 of the Global Campus at 2 E. Center Street on the Fayetteville Square. His appearance is free.
The event is sponsored by the Cobblestone Project and the Community and Family Institute at the University of Arkansas.
Following Horvath’s talk, a panel including local homeless and leaders from Seven Hills Homeless Center, Northwest Arkansas Women’s Shelter and the Samaritan Community Center will discuss ways to end homelessness.
“This event is an important opportunity for us to reconvene, recommit and re-energize our efforts at combating one of America’s greatest social ills,” said Kevin Fitzpatrick, director of the Community and Family Institute.
This is Horvath’s second appearance in Fayetteville. Last year he took part in the “1,287 Homelessness Awareness Rally.” That event grew out of the Northwest Arkansas Point-In-Time Homeless Census, which was published by the institute. The census identified an estimated 1,287 homeless people living in Northwest Arkansas, a 10 percent increase over the 2007 census. Almost half of those counted were children under 18 years of age.
