Aldermen To Talk Salaries

Editor's note

Rogers City Council members receive an annual salary of $8,400 a year. The figure in a story about elected officials salaries published Saturday was incorrect.

Only one resident applied for the Ward 2, Position 2 seat on the Rogers City Council by the noon deadline Friday.

Marge Wolf, president and chief executive officer of Northwest Arkansas Food Bank, submitted on July 13 her application to fill the unexpired term of Barney Hayes.

Hayes stepped down July 13 from the council to accept the parks director position with the city.

Aldermen are scheduled to meet as a committee of the whole at 6 p.m. Monday in Council Chambers of City Hall to discuss the position with Wolf. It is likely she will be sworn in Tuesday at the regular council meeting.

Wolf serves as justice of the peace representing District 6 on the Benton County Quorum Court, a position she has held since 2004. She is vice chairwoman of the court’s Finance Committee, chairwoman of the Personnel Committee and vice chairwoman of the Employee Grievance Committee. She served two previous terms on the Quorum Court, from 1995 to 1999.

Wolf said if she is appointed to the council she will resign her position on the Quorum Court.

Aldermen are also scheduled to discuss the 2011-12 salaries of elected oft cials. Salaries of the mayor, city clerk, city attorney and aldermen are on the agenda, according to city officials, so possible candidates will know what the salary will be. All the positions are up for election in November.

Aldermen are paid $8,400 a year. The mayor receives an annual salary of $115,003, the city clerk, $57,782 and the city attorney, $92,562.
