Springdale Man Sentenced To 15 Years In Prison

— A Springdale man was sentenced to 15 years in prison after admitting to manufacturing methamphetamine that led to a fire at a duplex.

Carlos Meadath, 53, pleaded guilty to manufacturing a controlled substance and arson. The plea was under an agreement Public Defender Brynna Barnica reached with Deputy Prosecutor Nathan Smith.

Meadath was arrested Nov. 17, 2009, after firefighters and police responded to a 911 call concerning a fire at 4576-B CB Place.

A fire marshal stated there were suspicious materials in the garage that he believed was a possible methamphetamine lab, according to court documents. Components of a lab were later found in the debris, according to court documents.

Meadath also confessed to manufacturing methamphetamine, according to court documents.

Circuit Judge Robin Green accepted the plea agreement and Meadath’s guilty plea.

Meadath was given a 20-year suspended sentence on the arson charge.

He must pay $1,420 in court costs and more than $100,000 to the insurance company for the damaged duplex.
