PARIS The taped statement of a man admitting he shot another man outside a Paris Wal-Mart was played for the jury in his murder trial.
Sixty-year-old Robert "Mickey" James is charged with first-degree murder in the death of 40-year-old Tony Rice. Rice was shot three times in the parking lot of the store Aug. 8, 2008.
On the tape played Monday for the jury James told an Arkansas State Police investigator he went to the store for bread and saw "the guy I shot and my wife." James said he didn't really remember the shooting.
Defense attorney John Irwin says James was emotionally disturbed when he shot and killed Rice. Chief Deputy Prosecutor John Riedel says James was angry and jealous - not emotionally disturbed.
