Alleged probation violation lands parents in jail

Jamie Frazier and Karry Mahmens have already bonded out.

— The parents of five girls killed in a house fire have beenarrested on allegations of violating their probation.

Jamie Frazier, 34, and Karry Mahmens, 28, were placed on a year of statesupervised probation in November.

They pleaded guilty to misdemeanor possession of a controlled or counterfeit substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.

The couple's daughters - Kristan Frazier, 13; Kimberly Frazier, 11; Katelyn Mahmens, 9; Kaila Frazier, 8; and Kiya Frazier, 5 - were pronounced dead at the scene of the March 25, 2008, fire at 402 S.W. B St.

After the fire, policesearched the home, where they found several items of drug paraphernalia, including bongs, roaches, marijuana pipes and a marijuana grinder, as well as a small amount of what police suspected was marijuana. The couple were tested for drug use several hours after the fire.

Blood tests revealed a positive screen for marijuana use. Police officers also suspected Frazier and Mahmens were intoxicated, court documents state.

The misdemeanor plea required Frazier and Mahmens to be sentenced to state-supervised probation and to screening at OzarkGuidance for substance abuse and to pay $2,340 in court-associated costs.

Neither Frazier's or Mahmen's court file contained any information related to the revocation.

Frazier and Mahmens were released from the Benton County Jail after each posted $1,000 bond.
