FORT SMITH Authorities say a convicted felon who escaped from a Crawford County transport van has been recaptured.
The Crawford County Sheriff's Office says that 46-year-old William McCoy was arrested Sunday after an Arkansas State Police trooper found him in a stolen car in Madison County.
Authorities say McCoy apparently escaped from the transport van after he slipped out a back window. He eluded authorities for nearly two weeks.
McCoy was on his way back to prison from Van Buren after a court hearing. McCoy is serving a 20-year sentence on a weapons charge, drug charges and for two escapes he committed while in Independence County.
Police say McCoy was taken to the Grimes Unit, a maximum-security prison.
