Convenience centers on Friday agenda

County administrators will meet the public at noon.

— Benton County representatives once again invite the public to ask questions about the week's county business during a second brown-bag lunch discussion at noon Friday.

Last Friday marked the county's first public lunch discussion.

"For the first event, I thought it was pretty well attended, and there were some good questions from the public," county administrator Greg Hines said Monday.

This week, the topic of discussion will be the convenience centers the county is setting up that will allow residents to dispose of trash they would not ordinarily be able to, Hines said.

The first convenience center will opensome time in the next month or so at the north end of the Benton County Road Department on Melissa Drive, Hines said.

"After that, we will be opening them in strategic locations around the county," Hines said. "I think it is prudent we get one open and get all of the kinks worked out and get a good cost estimate before opening more."

The convenience centers will take the place of the semiannual cleanup days previously hosted by the county, Hines said, noting that the convenience centers will allow residents to dispose of their unwanted items without having to wait for one of the annual county cleanup days.

The brown-bag lunch discussion will be held in the Quorum Court Room on the third floor of the County Administration Building, 215 E. Central Ave. in Bentonville.

Those who wish to bring their lunch are welcome to do so, County Judge Dave Bisbee said.
