— Vick gets on field, does little

Michael Vick played in an NFL game that counted, though he didn't account for much of the Philadelphia Eagles' offense.

Vick carried once for 7 yards, threw two incompletions and either handed off or was a decoy on eight other plays as the Eagles defeated the visiting Kansas City Chiefs 34-14 Sunday in the quarterback's first regular-season action since December 2006.

Vick's 11 plays, which included seven handoffs, resulted in a net of 30 yards.

"I think I played fairly well," Vick said. "I made good decisions with the plays I had.

"It's a different role, but it is what it is. It was a small look. We have so much in store for the future."

Vick, who served 18 months in prison on a federal dogfighting charge, took the field on the second play from scrimmage. He lined up at wide receiver, went in motion and had a handoff faked to him, then watched as McCoy lost ayard on a carry.

Some in the crowd rose to give Vick an ovation, but he was back on the sideline so quickly - after one play - that many fans at Lincoln Financial Field didn't seem to notice him.

Zero for T.O.

Buffalo Bills receiver Terrell Owens failed to make a catch despite five passes thrown his way, ending a streak of 185 consecutive games with at least one reception. It was the longest such streak of any active player. It was also the third longest streak in NFL history, behind Marvin Harrison (stuck at 190) and Jerry Rice (274).

Owens' day got even worse after the game. On his way up the tunnel, T.O. was struck in the face and chest by a large bucket of popcorn thrown from the stands.

"I'm good. Just got to get ready for next week," Owens said.

As for the offense, his role in it and whether he's happy about the play-calling, Owens would only say: "I'm going with the plays that are called."

Owens was thrown to only once in the first half, when he bobbled a pass out of bounds at the right sideline. He had four passes go his way in the second half, including one up the right sideline that he failed to make a play on, even though he was partially open and the pass fell within 2 yards of him.

"We have to get him the football, obviously," Coach Dick Jauron said of Owens. "Clearly he's a big part of the offense."Giant crush

The New York Giants' first shutout since October 2005 clearly impressed Tampa Bay Coach Raheem Morris.

"They beat us down," said Morris, who's still looking for his first victory after losing 24-0 Sunday.

"We were beat by a grown man team, a team we want to be like one day. They came in here and took it to us. Outmanned us, outgunned us. ... It wasn't even close." Injury report

Dolphins quarterback Chad Pennington was knocked out of Sunday's game with an injury to his right shoulder. ... Rams quarterback Marc Bulger, wide receiver Laurent Robinson and safety James Butler were injured.

Bulger left late in the first quarter with a bruised right shoulder after a sack by Aaron Kampman. Robinson suffered an ankle injury in the first half. Butler hurt a knee early in the first quarter. ... Frank Gore lasted only one carry for the 49ers before leaving with a right ankle injury.

... Kevin Smith couldn't make it through the Lions' first victory since 2007. He rushed for 101 yards before leaving with an injured right shoulder. ... Colts defensive end Dwight Freeney injured his right leg in the third quarter and did not return to the field.
