Pioneers second at 4A regional at The Creeks

— Host Shiloh Christian won the Class 4A Region 1 Boys Golf Tournament on Tuesday, edging Gentry by 10 strokes at The Creeks Golf Course.

Ben Sarratt led Gentry (242) with a 5-over par 76. Robbie White added an 82 and Joe Morris shot an 84.

Chase Wakefiled (77), Trent Tollett (77) and Tyler Kelsay (78) scored for Shiloh Christian (232).

Farmington's Jason Purdy won medalist honors with a 73 (+2) and the Cardinals finished third with a 251.

Those three teams and the next six best individual scores - Huntsville's Cody Stephens (77) and Connor Reed (79), Pottsville's Kurt Kulbeth (78), Ozark's Tyler Richard (78) and Jake Shaffer (79) and Dardanelle's Wilson Gongola (80) - advance to the Class 4A State Tournament at DeGray State Park Golf Course on Oct. 7.

Both Siloam Springs golf teams will be represented at the Class 5A State Tournament.

The Lady Panthers finished third at Wednesday's 5A-West Conference Tournament at the Ben Geren Golf Course in Fort Smith.

The team includes seniors Brittany Crawley and Savanna Seliga and sophomores Jessica Glass and Emery Rakestraw.

Their state tournament will be the Paragould Country Club starting Tuesday.

Senior Don Voss and junior Jackson McKinnon advanced to the boys state tournament as individuals as the Panthers finished fourth overall.

The boys state tournament starts Oct. 6 at the Hot Springs Country Club.
