Former Razorback Anderson becomes a Legend

— Though he never played in the SEC, former All-Southwest Conference running back Gary Anderson will represent the University of Arkansas in the 2009 Southeastern Conference Legends Class, the SEC Office announced Tuesday in Birmingham, Ala.

Lettering for former coach Lou Holtz's Razorbacks from 1979-82 beforea long, illustrious professional career in the USFL and the NFL, Anderson is one of 12 former greats from each SEC school who will be honored at the SEC Football Championship game Dec. 5 in Atlanta.

Honorees from each school and the years they lettered are:

ALABAMA - Antonio Langham, Defensive Back, 1990-93

ARKANSAS - Gary Anderson, Running Back,1979-82

AUBURN - Quentin Riggins, Linebacker, 1986-89

FLORIDA - Reidel Anthony, Wide Receiver, 1994-96

GEORGIA - Matt Stinchcomb, Offensive Tackle, 1996-98

KENTUCKY - Jim Kovach, Linebacker, 1974-76, 78

LSU - Michael Brooks, Linebacker, 1983-86

OLE MISS - JimmyLear, Quarterback, 1950-52

MISSISSIPPI STATE - Billy Stacy, Quarterback, 1956-58

SOUTH CAROLINA - Tommy Suggs, Quarterback, 1968-70

TENNESSEE - Heath Shuler, Quarterback, 1991-93

VANDERBILT - Jamie Duncan, Linebacker, 1995-97
