Rogers man announces Senate bid

— A financial adviser from Northwest Arkansas says he's seeking the Republican nomination to challenge U.S. Sen. Blanche Lincoln next year.

Buddy Rogers of Rogers on Tuesday announced his Senate bid and became the seventh Republican to join the race to challenge Lincoln. Lincoln is a Democrat seeking a third term in the Senate.

Rogers says he's running because he doesn't think Lincoln represents the state's conservatives well. He's never run for office in the state before.

Republicans have targeted Lincoln as she seeks re-election and Arkansas Senate President Bob Johnson has said he may run against Lincoln in the Democratic primary.
