— UA sophomore receives Frederick A. Kekule Award

Grant Meredith, of Fayetteville, received the Frederick A. Kekule Award from the department of chemistry and biochemistry at the University of Arkansas. The award is given to a sophomore chemistry major with professional promise, with particular emphasis placed on academic performance in organic chemistry.

Meredith is the son of May and Murl Meredith, of Fayetteville.

Fayetteville woman graduates from Missouri State University

Amanda M. Lea, of Fayetteville, graduated July 31 during the summer commencement ceremonies at Missouri State University with a Bachelorof Science degree.

Local student makes dean's list

Erin Fredrick, daughter of Dr. David and Anita Fredrick, Fayetteville, was named to the 2008-09 Lawrence University dean's list for maintaining a minimum 3.4 gpa.

Fredrick is a 2007 graduate of Fayetteville High School.
