Swing for Hope on Oct. 9

— The Swing for Hope golf tournament will be held Oct. 9 at Shadow Valley Country Club in Rogers. The four-person scramble has shotgun starts at 7:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m.

Proceeds will benefit Benton County Sunshine School and Samaritan Community Center.

BHS sets homecoming activities

The BHS homecoming assembly will be held Oct. 8 starting at 2 p.m. The assembly will be at Tiger Stadium. Visitors and alumni are encouraged to attend.

Bentonville will play Rogers Heritage at 7:30 p.m. Oct. 9. The homecoming crowning ceremony will occur at 7 p.m.

A dance for Bentonville High School students will take place in the North Commons of Bentonville High School from 7:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. Oct. 10.Cobb-Vantress golf event Oct. 2

The 11th annual Cobb-Vantress Chamber Challenge Golf Tournament will be held Oct. 2, with a noon shotgun start. The three-person scramble will be held at Dawn Hill in Siloam Springs.

Wiener Dog Races on Oct. 3

The Bella Vista Animal Shelter's third annual Wiener Dog Races will take place Oct. 3 at the Glasgow Road softball field near the Loch Lomond dam in Bella Vista. The event will start at 9 a.m. The rain date is Oct. 10.

Tour de Cure coming Oct. 3

The American Diabetes Association will host the sixth annual Northwest Arkansas Tour de Cure at Arvest Ballpark in Springdale on Oct. 3.

A health-and-wellness festival will be held from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. There will be food, live entertainment, free health screenings, a Kidz Zone, a bike parade, a diaper dash, a fashion show and more.

The events will raise funds for research and support for Americans who suffer from diabetes.

All participants of the races are asked to meet the $150 fundraising minimum in addition to the registration fee.

Vendor tables available for Christmas Bazaar

The Bella Vista Village Christmas Bazaar will be from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Nov. 21 in Riordan Hall's auditorium.

Tables can be rented for $25. Each vendor is limited to two tables.

Items available for sale should include Christmas crafts, brand new gifts or jewelry. Absolutely no resale items will be available at the bazaar.

The deadline to reserve a table is Oct. 31. Tables may be reserved at Riordan Hall with cash, a credit card or a check made payable to the "Bella Vista Village POA."

Proceeds from the table sales will go toward advertising the event and its vendors.

Band concert on Oct. 4

The Bella Vista Community Concert Band will perform its final concert of the 2009 season at 3 p.m. Oct. 4 in Becker Hall at the First United Methodist Church of Bella Vista at 20 Boyce Drive.

The concert is free, butdonations to support the Summer Series at Blowing Springs will be accepted.

Pea Ridge Mule Jump is Oct. 10

The 21st annual PeaRidge Mule Jump will be held Oct. 10 at Pea Ridge High School, 781 W. Pickens Road.

Opening ceremonies will start at 9 a.m. followed by the halter class (mule beauty pageant), a stick mule event (for children), barrel and flag races, polebending, hog calling and the mule jumping competition.

Proceeds will benefit the city of Pea Ridge.

Hobbs to hold Fall Festival

The Hobbs State Park - Conservation Area's firstfall festival - "Fall - in Love with Hobbs" - will be held Oct. 10.

The schedule is :

◊10 a.m. to noon at Historic Van Winkle Hollow.

Living history.

◊10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Hobbs visitors center.

Dutch oven cookoff.

◊ Noon at tht Hidden Diversity Multi-Use Trail parking lot on Townsend Ridge Road. A hike will be held.

◊3 p.m. Hobbs visitors center. Music from "Still on the Hill."

The Cave Springs Fall Festival will be Friday and Saturday. On Friday night there will be barbecue dinners in the Community Building from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., and live music on the main stage from 5:30 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Saturday's events will include a fireman's pancakebreakfast at the fire station from 6 a.m. to 10 a.m.; a car show and silent auction at City Hall from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.; a parade at 11 a.m.; the Cave Springs school reunion at the American Legion Building at noon; a dog show on the stage at noon; and music, food, a magician, a dunk tank and more.

Driver-safety class offered

LifeSpring United Methodist Church will host an AARP Arkansas driversafety class from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sept. 30.

A $14 fee to cover the cost of materials is required. AARP members qualify for a $2 discount if they provide their membership card and membership number.

Holiday Bazaar is Oct. 3

The First United Methodist Church of Bella Vista will hold its 32nd annual Holiday Bazaar at the church, 20 Boyce Dr .,beginning with rolls and coffee served at 8:30 a.m. Oct. 3. The event will run through 2 p.m.

Lunch will be served starting at 10:30 a.m.

The bazaar will offer Thanksgiving and Christmas items, plants and accessories, homemade clothing and much more.

There will be a silentauction as well.

Proceeds will benefit local charities.
