— Bella Vista Fly Tyers Club

The club will meet at 10 a.m. Thursday at Riordan Hall in Bella Vista. Chris Knife will speak about the Arkansas Sheriff's Youth Camp.

The Lovely Purchase Chapter, DAR

The club met for brunch Sept. 14 at the home of Ninetta Potts to start off the new fall season and to celebrate Constitution Week. The co-hostess was Frances Thomson.

Potts, the Constitution Week chapter chairwoman, had the Constitution Week Certificate signed by Mayor Frank Anderson. An interesting talk about the American Constitution, its beginning and the reasoning behind the document was given by new Chapter Regent Muriel Cross.

The chapter was in charge of the Naturalization Ceremony in Fayetteville on Wednesday. Joan Drake of Bella Vista was in charge, with Jean Vail and Virginia Claycomb assisting. Judge Hendren was the presiding judge.

The October meeting will be Oct. 12 at the First United Methodist Church, 20 Boyce Drive in Bella Vista. The program, "The History of American Music," will be given by Dr. Larry Zehring. Hostesses will be Jody Rogers and Mary Dean Sawyer.

Bella Vista Garden Club

The club's meeting Wednesday will be at the United Lutheran Church, 100 Cooper Road in Bella Vista. Activities will start at 11:30 a.m., and refreshments will be served followed by the meeting.

The featured speaker will be Mark Bray, a Master Gardener from the Benton County Extension Office, who will show how to build a rain barrel. The rain barrel will be given away in a raffle, and Bray will also explain the Master Gardener program. There will be a horticultural design at each meeting.

The club's fall plant sale will be from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Oct. 3 at the Village Wastewater Plant on U.S. Highway 71 in Bella Vista. The Day Lily Club and the Wastewater Plant will also have plants to sell, all at bargain prices. The sale's proceeds will be used to fund local projects.

Bella Vista Welcome Club

The next dining out party will be at 6 p.m. Thursday at Rubaie's Cafe on Southeast Macy Road in Bentonville. A social hour will start at 5 p.m., followed by dinner. Reservations are required. Call Kathy or John Hughes at 855-4807 by Monday.

Calico Cut-Ups Quilt Guild

The guild will meet at 1 p.m. Sept. 28 at the First United Methodist Church, 20 Boyce Drive in Bella Vista.

The program "Colorful Quilts" will be given by Cynthia Regone from Katy, Texas. Following the program, there will be a brief business meeting and a show-and-tell. Visitors are welcome.

A celebration honoring Johnny Eubanks' 32 years of calling will be held Monday at Riordan Hall in Bella Vista. Dancing will be from 7 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. with Eubanks and Jay Wright as the callers. Refreshments will be served.

James Bright Chapter NSDAR

The group met Sept. 14 at the Old Train Station-Bogle Room in Bentonville. Kimberly Major was inducted as a new member by Registrar Kathleen Haase. Wanda Bautts, chairwoman of the Constitution Committee, presented "The Men Who Wrote the Constitution."

She also displayed a picture of the signers and copies of the Constitution and the Declaration of Independence.

It was announced that Ginger McFarland's program on the Constitution at the September 2008 meeting was given first place in the DAR State Program Contest and the DAR South Central Region Program Contest. She lives in Siloam Springs and is a freshman in college.

June Pike, chairman of the Junior American Citizenship Committee, announced that the JAC Contest Theme for 2009-2010 is "America, Land of the Free and Home of the Brave." This contest is open to all students, preschool through 12th grade. The contest will close Dec. 15.

The club will have its next meeting at 10:30 a.m. Oct. 6 at the Beaver Lake Aviation Facility at the Rogers Municipal Airport. The cost of the meal will be $8.25 per person, including tip. Reservations are required.

The program will be "Unusual Fall Container Plantings," by Lissa Morrison, owner and operator of the White River Wholesale Nursery.

The Horticulture Committee will present unusual plant types throughout the year and offer them as door prizes.

A Benton County Fair report and photos of ribbon winners will be given.

Meetings are held the first Tuesday of each month, and lunch reservations are required. Visitors are welcome.

Disabled American Veterans

The DAV Mobile Service Office will be at the Pig Trail Harley-Davidson, 2409 Hudson Road in Rogers, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sept.

25 and 26 to provide counseling and claimfiling assistance.

The event is part of the nationwide Harley's Heroes tour and is free to all veterans and members of their families.

Village Handbell Ringers

The group will present "Music for a Sunday Afternoon" at 3 p.m. Sept. 27 at the Highlands United Methodist Church, 371 Glasgow Road in Bella Vista.

The concert will feature gospel, contemporary and Dixieland music. Also featuredwill be the Highland Ringers and Chimers, plus the combined choirs.

A freewill offering will be taken, and refreshments will be served following the concert.

Republican Women of Bentonville

Planning for its annual fashion show, the group will hold a rehearsal on the eve of the Oct. 8 event.

The rehearsal will be at 6 p.m. Oct. 7 at the Center for Nonprofits, at 13th and Walnut in Rogers.

The show will start at 6 p.m. Oct. 8 at the Center for Nonprofits. It will feature clothes from Dillards, Penneys, Dress Barn, Wal-Mart, Helping Hands and Sensible Chic.

There will be a silent auction and door prizes. Tickets are $20.
