Michael Eugene Gibson

GRAVETTE — Michael Eugene Gibson, 58, formerly of Neosho, died Friday, Nov. 13, 2009, in Gravette. He was born May 20, 1951, in Neosho, Mo., to Elton and Pauline (Vance) Gibson.

Mr. Gibson moved to NW Arkansas in 1997 and currently was the minister of Gravette First Christian Church. Prior to moving to Gravette, he had served as youth minister at First Christian Church in Joplin, and South Joplin Christian Church, and as minister of Oakland Christian Church in Joplin. He was a member of the Lions Club of Gravette.

Michael and Beverly (Hill) Gibson were married Aug. 14, 1971, in Neosho. Beverly survives, in addition to two sons and daughters-in-law, Eric and Beth Gibson and Christopher and Kimberley Gibson, all of Gravette; a brother and sister-in-law, Greg and Pam Gibson, Neosho; his mother-in-law, Mae Hill, Lanagan; uncle and aunt, Bob and Betty Gibson, Neosho; aunt, Loretta Cartwright, Berryville; five grandchildren, Kyler, Sabrina, Savannah, Alexandria and Nicholas Gibson; numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, and many friends.

Funeral services were held Monday at Gravette First Christian Church, with burial in Hillcrest Cemetery, Gravette.

Warren D. McCurley

ROGERS — Warren D. McCurley, 89, of Rogers died Tuesday, Nov. 10, 2009, at Northwest Medical Center in Bentonville.

Warren was born Jan. 18, 1920, in Dallas to the late Lewis and Martha (Kern) McCurley.

Warren was a WWII veteran and a 32nd degree Mason. He and his wife were also very active in the First Baptist Church of Rogers.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his loving wife of 57 years, Edith.

Survivors include two sons, Larry McCurley of Los Angeles and Dennis McCurley and his wife, Marlene, of Seattle; one daughter, Joyce Wood of Springdale; one brother, Stanley McCurley and his wife, Beverly, of Medford, Okla.; six grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.

Services for Warren were held Monday, Nov. 16, 2009, at Rollins Funeral Home Chapel in Rogers with interment at the National Cemetery in Fayetteville.

Gene W. Haug

BELLA VISTA — Gene W. Haug, 78, of Bella Vista, died Friday, Nov. 13, 2009, at the Mercy Medical Center, Rogers. He was born March 22, 1931, in Duluth, Minn., the son of Andrew and Inga Haug.

He served in the Air Force during the Korean Conflict. Afterwards, he attended the University of Minnesota (Duluth). He was a teacher for 34 years in Highland Park, Ill. He and his wife Nan (Thornton) had been married for 46 years. They traveled extensively and spent lots of time with their grandchildren. He enjoyed playing tennis and fishing.

He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers; and two sisters.

He is survived by his wife, Nan, of Bella Vista; two sons, Andrew Haug and his wife, Vicki Fenton, of West Hills, Calif., and Adam Haug and his wife, Tammie, of Richardson, Texas; sister, Lois Richter of Minneapolis; four grandchildren, Alec, Veronica, Catlin and Sophie; and many other dear family members and friends.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 22, 2009, at the Mildred Cooper Memorial Chapel, Bella Vista. Cremation arrangements by the Bella Vista Funeral Home and Crematory, 2258 Forest Hills Blvd., Bella Vista.

BULLHEAD CITY, ARIZ. — William H. Potteet Jr., age 87, a resident of Bullhead City, Ariz.,, passed away Oct. 24, 2009, at his home in Bullhead City.

William was born in Phoenix, Ariz., on Aug. 28, 1922, to William H. Potteet and Pearl Francis (McKenzie) Potteet Pace. On June 8, 1946, William married Gearline Donahoo in Litchfield Park, Ariz.

Preceded in death by his wife Gerri; father, William H. Potteet; mother, Pearl Francis (McKenzie) Potteet Pace; stepfather, Otis Pace; one granddaughter, Elizabeth Potteet; one brother, Harry Lee Potteet; sister-in-law, Ivy Mae Brown; William is survived by four sons, William H. Potteet III and wife, Della Spencer of Shell Knob, Mo., John E. Potteet of Grove, Okla., Shawn Potteet and wife, Krystal, of Fort Mohave, Ariz., Lance P. Potteet of Fort Mohave, Ariz.; one daughter, Cheri Plaza and husband, Dave, of Fort Mohave, Ariz.; one brother, Richard Pace of Phoenix, Ariz.; four nieces; a nephew; 17 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; dear friends, Mildred Lowrey of Orville, Calif.; Jim and Leona Watson of Camp Verde, Ariz.; Dortha Howinton of Chico, Calif.; and many friends all over Arizona and Arkansas.

Charles Reaves

SPRINGDALE — Charles Henry Reaves, 82, of Springdale passed away Sunday, Nov. 15, 2009, in his home.

He was born Sept. 11, 1927, in Childress, Texas, to Henry and Lela Reaves. He was a successful businessman in New Mexico, inclusive of a John Deere dealership, insurance agent, real estate agent, mechanic and a leader in his community. The family moved to the Viney Grove Community, Prairie Grove, in 1965 where he was a rancher, real estate agent, loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, a neighborly gentleman and devoted to his faith in God through his dedication to his church ,which was the First Church of Christ Scientist in Fayetteville.

He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 63 years, Francil Lee, on March 26, 2009. He is survived by two sons, Jimmy Reaves and wife, Janice, of Farmington and Steven Reaves and wife, Rhonda, of Hogeye; two daughters, Karen Rogers and husband, Bob, of Springdale and Gail Jordan and husband, Ron, of Springdale; eight grandchildren, Alicia Niccum, Chad Reaves, Julie Calhoon, Jennifer Barton, Corrina Howard, Charles Jordan, Kara Rogers and Audrey Rogers; 13 great-grandchildren; and his beloved dog, Sally.

A memorial service will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 18, 2009, in the Chapel of Nelson-Berna Funeral Home.

Jacqueline Jeanne Watten

BELLA VISTA — Jacqueline Jeanne Watten, nee Jude, 81, of Bella Vista died Friday, Nov. 13, 2009. Jackie was surrounded by her family. Her children wish to thank Northwest Regional Hospice for their compassionate care. Jackie was born March 9, 1928, in Minneapolis to Pearle Thomas and Lola Quady Jude.

Raised in Minneapolis, she graduated from Washburn High in 1946 and she earned an AA degree from the University of Minnesota. Jackie graduated first in her nursing program from North Hennepin Community College where she served as elected class president. Following a successful career in nursing, she retired to Bella Vista with her husband.

Married to Leonard (Vern) Watten on Sept. 9, 1950, together they raised their four children. Jackie was a devoted mother, grandmother, gardener, artist, quilter and civic minded volunteer. Her experience as a docent at the Walker Art Center, Minneapolis, inspired her artistic talents demonstrated in her paintings, furniture detailing, textile arts and creative quilts.

Jackie’s involvement in horticultural work and organizations included: the Richfield Garden Club, Minnesota Landscape Arboretum, Master Gardeners of Bentonville, and most recently the Garden Club of Rogers. As a Master Gardener she taught design and gardening shills to students and coordinated several community plantings in the Bella Vista area.

Jackie served in leadership positions of volunteerism with the Ladies Auxiliary of the VFW Post 9063, the American Legion Auxiliary Post 341 and as a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution.

Jackie was preceded in death by her husband, Vern Watten, 2008.

Survivors include: sister, Suzanne Jude; four children, Lisa Watten, Barnaby Watten and wife, Dale, Meredith Watten-Jaramillo and husband, Lorenzo, and Molly Watten Merkle; eight grandchildren: Jocelyn Laurila, Adam, Jonathan and Neal Watten, Max and Wyatt Palmer, Marsden and Dickson Merkle III.

A private memorial service will be held at the Fayetteville National Cemetery.

Doris G. Horine

ROGERS — Doris G. Horine, 76, of Rogers died Nov. 14, 2009, in Rogers. She was born July 16, 1933, in Blue Eye to Riley and Susie Carhichael Gilbert.

She was a bookkeeper.

Survivors include four sons, Larry Huntington of Springdale, Johnnie Huntington of Newport News, Va., Gary Huntington of Huntsville and Michael Horine of Tennessee; two daughters, Marjorie Huntington of Rogers and Cheryl Crownover of Tennessee; six brothers; six sisters; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren.

Services are at 2 p.m. Thursday at Sisco Funeral Chapel of Springdale.

Cremation arrangements are by Sisco Funeral Chapel.

Guy Plumlee

SILOAM SPRINGS — Guy Plumlee, 77, of Siloam Springs died Nov. 15, 2009, at Bentonville Manor. He was born Jan. 21, 1932, in Cowell to Samuel and Willie Peoples Plumlee.

He worked in construction before he became the owner/operator of his own truck.

Survivors include his wife, Wilma Imogene Plumlee; a son, Jimmy Guy Plumlee and wife Jacque of Siloam Springs; a sister; three grandchildren; four great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. today at Backstrom-Pyeatte Funeral Chapel in Siloam Springs.

Services are at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery.

Al Felkins

GRAVETTE — Al Felkins, 70, of Gravette died Nov. 14, 2009, at his home. He was born Dec. 11, 1938, in Chanute, Kan., to Altie Leo Felkins and Lois Ila Reed.

He served in the Air Force, was a short-haul truck driver and a member of Hiwasse Church of the Nazarene.

Survivors include his wife, Phyllis Felkins; three sons, including Allan Lynn Felkins of Siloam Springs and Kevin Lance Felkins of Bella Vista; a sister; three grandchildren; two great-grandchildren.

Visitation is today at Sisco Funeral Home in Pea Ridge.

Service is at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Burial will be at Buttram Chapel Cemetery.

Alexandria Rachel Turner

SILOAM SPRINGS — Alexandria Rachel Turner, 19, of Siloam Springs died Nov. 15, 2009. She was born Jan. 19, 1990, in Texarkana, Texas, to Martin L. and Cathy Holston Turner.

She lived in Siloam Springs most of her life.

Survivors include her mother of Siloam Springs; her father of Cypress, Texas; a sister, Chandler Brownell of the home; two grandmothers; a great-grandmother.

Visitation is from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Wasson Funeral Home in Siloam Springs.

Services are at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery in Siloam Springs.
