Lonzo James Self

BENTONVILLE — Lonzo James Self, 85, of Bentonville, passed away Dec. 27, 2009. He was born Aug. 25, 1924, in Murray, to Artie and Dovey Watson Self.

He worked in construction and was a self-employed carpenter. He loved working with his hands and enjoyed wood work. He loved visiting with his children, grandchildren, and siblings; he was loved by all.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one daughter, Betty Jean Hudson; an infant son, Allen Lynn Self; one grandson, Lonnie Joe Self; and two brothers, S.M. Self and JR Self.

He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Gladys Self; two sons, Jerry Self and his wife, Wanda, of Rogers, and Dale Self and his wife, Yvonne, of Bentonville; one daughter, Vicki Self of Bentonville; two brothers, Fred Self of Napa Valley, Calif., and Glen Self of Neosho, Mo.; and one sister, Wanda Johnson of Madera, Calif.; 12 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday at Osage Mills Baptist Fellowship in Bentonville with the Rev. Bruce Holland and Pastor Greg Baskin officiating.

All ceremonial arrangements were made under the direction of Epting Funeral Home in Bentonville.

Mildred A. Beddingfield

BELLA VISTA — Mildred A. Beddingfield, 86, of Bella Vista, died Dec. 27, 2009, at the Northwest Medical Center-Bentonville. She was born on Nov. 12, 1923, in Jacksonville, Ill., to John and Katie Murgatrayd.

Millie was a retired nurse, having graduated from St. Alphonsus School of Nursing in Boise, Idaho. She worked at the Twin Falls Clinic and Hospital 18 years as evening supervisor and in ICU, CCU.

She was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers; and three sisters.

Millie was a member of Judson American Baptist Church of Bella Vista.

Services will be held at 1 p.m. on Thursday at the Judson American Baptist Church, 1702 Forest Hills Blvd., Bella Vista, with Pastor Henry Hensley officiating. Burial will be at 11 a.m. on Monday, Jan. 4, 2010, in the Memorial Park Cemetery, Tulsa, Okla.

Arrangements are by the Bella Vista Funeral Home & Crematory, 2258 Forest Hills Blvd., Bella Vista, AR.

Dale L. Casto

SPRINGDALE — Dale L. Casto, 50, of Springdale died Dec. 16, 2009, at Northwest Medical Center -Springdale. He was born Aug. 11, 1959, in Munich, Germany, to Master Sgt. Harrison L. Casto and Rhea Ellenburg Casto.

He was an attorney and was also affiliated with Bright Beginnings Preschool in Bentonville.

He is survived by his wife, Cathy Nolan Casto; a son, Petty Officer 3rd Class Kyle Casto of Seoul, South Korea; a sister, Gayle Huchingson of West Memphis; a brother, Gary “Corky” Casto of Olive Branch, Miss.; one niece; and three nephews.

Services were held on Dec. 21, 2009, in West Memphis.

Memorials may be made to the Liver Transplant Department of Methodist University Hospital in Memphis, Tenn.

Donna Joy Koster

BELLA VISTA — Donna Joy Koster, 67, of Bella Vista, passed away Dec. 28, 2009, in Bentonville. She was born Jan. 9, 1942, in Sayre, Okla., to parents Lawrence Clifner and Travis Mildred Hopkins.

She was active, working for years as a union representative and also in land title research. Donna moved to Northwest Arkansas in 1992. Donna had many hobbies, including cooking and rock collecting.

She also loved animals and was a champion for the disadvantaged. She was loved and will be greatly missed by family and friends.

Donna was preceded in death by her parents; and husband, Ronald Koster.

She is survived by one foster child, Danny Koster; three sisters, Linda Jean Will and husband, Ken, of Snohomish, Wash., Sharon Kay Howard and husband, Dan, of Wenatchee, Wash., Carolyn Fay Esparza and husband, “Cip” Cipriano, of Prosser, Wash.; and her beloved dogs, Taz and Mojo, and cats, Blackie, Mr. Magic, Callie and CB.

Memorial services are set for 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Benton County Memorial Park Funeral Home, 3800 W. Walnut, Rogers. Pastor Brian Timmons will officiate.

The family has asked that in lieu of flowers that donations be made to the Bella Vista Animal Shelter, P.O. Box 5248, Bella Vista, AR 72714.

Patricia Ann Oxford

FARMINGTON — Pattie Oxford, born Patricia Ann Shepard to Guy and Thelma Shepard on Feb. 17, 1949, passed away peacefully on Dec. 26, 2009, after a long battle with leukemia. She was a resident of Farmington.

Pattie, also known as “Pat Ann” by family and old friends, was a devoted mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, aunt, and friend. She worked at J.B. Hunt Transport for 22 years where her co-workers enjoyed her quick wit, infectious smile and resounding laugh. A tough and tender patriot, Pattie worked hard, played hard, and loved her family, her friends, her work, and her country.

Pattie is survived by son-in-law and daughter, Jon and Cecily Poulsom of Fayetteville; daughter and son-in-law, Steven and Kristen Schmitt of Fayetteville; stepfather and mother, Dr. Tom B. and Thelma Watson of Lavaca; sister, Sharon Cashmore of Bentonville; grandchildren, Karina Hunt, Thomas Poulsom, Carly Poulsom, Zane Michael Schmitt and Crosby Schmitt all of Fayetteville; nephew, William Allred of Fayetteville; and niece, Britainee Cashmore of Bentonville.

Visitation will be held 5 to 7 p.m. today at Rollins Funeral Home in Rogers.

Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Thursday at Rollins Funeral Home with Pastor Don Carter officiating. Interment will be in Roller-Gateway Ridge Cemetery in Gateway.

DeAnn Burrup Ragland Sisk

ROGERS — DeAnn Burrup Ragland Sisk of Rogers died Dec. 21, 2009, at Mercy Medical Center. She was 71 years of age. DeAnn was born Nov. 15, 1938, in Downey, Idaho, to Leslie John Burrup and Hazel Bennett Burrup.

DeAnn was preceded in death by one son, Marlin John Egbert; one daughter, Rae Ann Egbert. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 25 years, Allen Blaine Ragland, and her husband of five years, William Lee Sisk. She was also preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Jon R. Burrup and Doyle W. Burrup; and three sisters, Joann Kunz, Myra Lee Nelson and Hope Haymore.

She is survived by one brother, Mont L. Burrup of California; her son, Robert John Egbert; Elaine Ragland Flowers and her son-in-law Marcus Flowers, also her daughter Regina Ragland. Also the two loves of her life, her granddaughters Mia Faith Flowers and Gabriel Blaine Kipness. She is also survived by 14 stepchildren and 14 great-grandchildren; countless nieces and nephews; and her very dear sister in Christ and best friend, Janet Winkler.

DeAnn was a positive role model to all she met and touched and encouraged and loved all people she met.

A private memorial service will be announced at a later date for family and special guests.

Marguerite ‘Elaine’ Oliver

BELLA VISTA — Marguerite “Elaine” Oliver, 88, of Bella Vista, died Dec. 28, 2009, at Circle of Life Hospice in Springdale. She was born April 17, 1921, in Smithland, Iowa, to Ernest and Emma Swanson and spent her early years in Sutherland, Iowa.

Prior to moving to Bella Vista in 1976, she lived in Estherville, where she raised her family. Elaine was a member of Bella Vista Community Church, the P.E.O. Sisterhood, and Past Matrons of the Eastern Star.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husbands, Arnold Anliker and Lloyd Oliver; her son, Dennis Anliker; and two sisters.

She is survived by one daughter, Sue Cathcart and husband, Dennis, of York, Pa.; one brother, Russell Swanson and wife, Jean, of Bella Vista; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Services at Bella Vista Community Church will be held at a later date.

SPRINGDALE — Arlo Evans, 37, of Springdale died Dec. 28, 2009, in Springdale. He was born Dec. 13, 1972, in Woodland, Calif., to Dodie Smothers Hunter and Johnny Warford.

He was an assistant manager for Arkansas Collision Center in Springdale.

Survivors include his parents, Jim and Dodie Hunter of Springdale; a sister, Michelle Hunter of Fayetteville; his grandmother, Linda Tunnell of Rogers; and his great-grandmother, Frieda Tunnell of Rogers.

Cremation arrangements were by Benton County Funeral Home in Rogers.

Mary Bell Mounce

BETHEL HEIGHTS — Mary Bell Mounce, 83, of Bethel Heights died Dec. 27, 2009, at Circle of Life Hospice in Springdale. She was born Sept. 24, 1926, in Lowell to Frank and Ollie Baker.

She was a member of Revival Tabernacle Church.

Survivors include a son, Ronald K. Mounce and wife, Carolyn, of Lowell; three daughters, Arlean Mounce Dunn of Springdale, Linda F. Luper and husband, Billy Wayne, and Brenda K. Pace and husband Dale, all of Lowell; a brother, Leonard McGarrah, of Bethel Heights; 13 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.

Visitation is 5 to 7 p.m. today at Backstrom-Pyeatte Funeral Home in Springdale.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at Backstrom-Pyeatte Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow at Hickory Creek Cemetery in Lowell.

Charlene Tucker

ROGERS — Charlene Weatherly Tucker, 77, of Rogers, died Dec. 28, 2009, at Northwest Medical Center-Bentonville. She was born May 14, 1932, in Estelline, Texas, to Travis and Mildred England Weatherly.

Survivors include two daughters, Debbie Huff and Lea Johnson, both of Rogers; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Cremation arrangements were by Benton County Memorial Park Funeral Home in Rogers.

Mickie Ray Wallace

BENTONVILLE — Mickie Ray Wallace, 62, of Bentonville died Dec. 29, 2009, at his home. He was born Sept. 15, 1947, in Phoenix to Wilburn Orian and Ruby Edna Powell Wallace.

He served in the Army and worked as a carpenter.

Survivors include a son, Frankie Wallace of Kansas; two brothers, including Max Wallace and wife, Shirley, of Gravette; a half brother; and several grandchildren.

No services are planned. Arrangements are by the Bella Vista Funeral Home & Crematory.

Ruth B. Griggs

ROGERS — Ruth B. Griggs, 84, of Rogers, formerly of Huntsville, died Dec. 27, 2009, at Meadowview Healthcare and Rehab in Huntsville. She was born Sept. 20, 1925, at Kingston, the daughter of Vernon and Venna Stansell Thompson. She was a homemaker and a member of the Kingston First Southern Baptist Church. She was the widow of Freeman William Griggs, who preceded her in death on June 19, 1985.

Survivors include three daughters and two sons-in-law, Louise and Jerry Hawkins of Huntsville, Virginia and Ronnie Parker of Bridger, Mont., and Kathy Bass of Rogers; one brother, Johnny Thompson of Springdale; eight grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and eight great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday in the chapel at Brashears Funeral Home with the Rev. Lovena Tyson officiating. Interment will be in the Huntsville Cemetery under the direction of Brashears Funeral Home, www.brashearsfuneralhome.net, of Huntsville. Pallbearers will be: Jess Parker, Jeff Thompson, Dustin Lawrence, Isaiah Morris, Kenneth Turentine and Dan White.
