2 $100,00 lottery winners seen in one day

Two people claimed $100,000 prizes in the same day, the Arkansas Scholarship Lottery announced, bringing the total number of $100,000 winners to five since the lottery's inception in September.

Angela Boyce of Royal won $100,000 on a $5 Money Mania ticket purchased at Royal Shell, while Larry Harris II of Grady won $100,000 on a $5 Cash Bonanza ticket purchased at Harding Street Valero in Pine Bluff.

Both received $75,000 checks after deductions for federal taxes.

Through Sunday, the lottery had sold $126.5 million in tickets and paid out $78.4 million in prizes, said Julie Baldridge, director of public affairs and legislative relations for the lottery

The lottery started selling scratch-off tickets, then added Powerball ticket sales Oct. 31 and Cash 3 ticket sales Dec. 14. It plans to begin selling tickets to the Mega Millions game Jan. 31.
