Stuttgart AC plant to recall 75 laid-off workers

Seventy-five workers who had been laid off from a Stuttgart air conditioning plant will return to work early next year.
Lennox Industries has laid off about 400 workers from the plant since November 2008. Skip King, Lennox’s general manager of operations, has told news outlets the workers could return in March or April, as the company prepares for its busy season that runs from March through September.
Stephen Bell, the executive vice president of the Stuttgart Chamber of Commerce, says the rehiring of the workers should help relieve the town’s unemployment issues and allow city sales-tax receipts to recover.
The Arkansas County’s unemployment rate in October was 14.1 percent, compared to 9.1 percent a year earlier.
