Jack C. Stevenson

BENTONVILLE — Jack C. Stevenson, 84, of Bentonville died Saturday, Dec. 19, 2009, at Circle of Life Hospice in Springdale. He was born Dec. 5, 1925, in Lela Lake, Texas, to William Stevenson and Bertha Crisman Stevenson.

Jack was a graduate of Harrison High School in l944 and then served in the U.S. Army in Europe during World War II. After graduation from the University of Arkansas with a degree in civil engineering, he began his career in Missouri and then moved to Little Rock in l956 to work for the Arkansas Foundry Co. He left there to open his own company, Arkansas Detailers Inc. in 1970. He finished his career as a civil engineer with the Arkansas Highway Department. Jack was a second-degree Mason and a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Bentonville.

Jack was an avid Razorback fan and supporter of the U of A. He loved playing golf with friends, bass fishing in local lakes, gardening and woodworking.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother and one sister.

Jack is survived by his wife of 62 years, Alice Sims Stevenson; one son, William Stevenson and spouse, Hue Nguyen, of Oceanside, Calif.; one daughter, Beth McDowell, and husband, Reed, of Portland, Ore.; and two grandchildren, Corey Stevenson and Hannah McDowell.

Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 29, 2009, at The First Presbyterian Church of Bentonville with the Rev. Arthur Fogartie officiating.
