The Facts On The National Cemetery

The Regional National Cemetery Improvement Corp.

doesn’t oversee operations for Fayetteville’s National Cemetery, as stated in a recent editorial. It’s a nonprofit corporation that does what it can to aid the expansion of that hallowed ground. The group is also interested in the now-vacant sale barn property in Fayetteville. Cost, not desire, is the barrier there.

We apologize for the error and feel it necessary to say one thing more. The RNCIC was very ably represented by president Roger McClain and vice president Ron Butler on Tuesday. The two came to our office and painstakingly described the corporation’s true role. They were solely interested in getting the facts straightened out to the public at a time when they could have taken us to task for an error. We can’t promise that we’ll always agree with their views, but we can assure those involved that the RNCIC’s views will be listened to with great respect.
