J.C. Austin

FAYETTEVILLE — J.C. Austin, 67, of Fayetteville died Friday, Dec. 18, 2009, in Weatherford, Texas. He was born June 8, 1942, in Dos Palos, Calif., to Charlie Lewis Austin and Clytie Morris Austin.

He served in the U.S. Navy from 1959 to 1962, was a member of Hope Freewill Baptist Church, and retired as an auto mechanic. He was preceded in death by his parents and three sisters.

Survivors include his wife of 48 years, Doris Austin of the home; three daughters, Kathy Ram of Los Banos, Calif., Dana Brady of Dos Palos, Calif., and Stephanie Phillips of Greenland; three brothers, Charlie Lewis Austin of Fresno, Calif., Clyde Austin of Dos Palos, Calif., and Oavie Riley Austin of Newburg, Mo.; two sisters, Frances Mariani of Firebaugh, Calif., and Vivian Austin of Auster, Calif.; seven grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Funeral service will be 10 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 23, 2009, at Beards Chapel with Brother Ernie Imler officiating. Private burial will be handled by Beards Chapel in Tuttle Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at Beards Chapel from 6 to 8 p.m. today.

Mildred F. Litterell

SPRINGDALE — Mildred F. Litterell, 76, died Dec. 20, 2009, at Circle of Life Hospice in Springdale. She was born Dec. 27, 1932, in Georgetown to Clarence Albert and Enda Avis McCarver Faulkner.

She was a homemaker and a Christian.

Survivors include her husband, William; two sons, Terry Litterell and wife Linda of Lowell and Tim Litterell of Springdale; a daughter, Sharon Napier and husband Jim of Crestview, Fla.; two brothers, Clayton Faulkner of Lowell and Cleavas Faulkner of Springdale; a granddaughter; a great-granddaughter.

Services will be at 2 p.m. today at Marshall Cemetery in Forum.

Arrangements are by Brashears Funeral Home of Huntsville.

Tyrees Deonta Prater

SPRINGDALE — Tyrees Deonta Prater, infant, died Dec. 19, 2009, at Willow Creek Women’s Hospital in Johnson. He was born Dec. 18, 2009, in Johnson to Courtney D. Prater and Britteny K. Napier.

Survivors include his parents; maternal grandmother, Betty Napier of Fayetteville; maternal great-grandparents, Billie and Thelma Napier of Springdale; paternal grandmother, Jo Ann Prater of Fayetteville; paternal great-grandparents, Joe and Mable Prater of Marianna.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Elm Springs Cemetery.

Elizabeth Marie Moore

LINCOLN — Elizabeth Marie (Schneider) Moore, 79, a resident of Lincoln, went to be with Jesus on Dec. 20, 2009.

She was born May 27, 1930, in Oklahoma City. She was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was a former Sunday school teacher for many years, also serving as a church pianist and organist. She loved to paint and decorate cakes. She had recently attended Washington County Baptist Church in Lincoln. Marie was an avid gardener and enjoyed working her flower beds. She loved to play board and card games with her grandchildren and attending their sporting and school events. While living and raising her children in Wichita, Kan., Marie enjoyed publishing the church newsletter for Bethel Life Center Assembly of God in Wichita, Kan. She also worked as an H&R Block tax preparer, Gessler’s Drugstore clerk and WSU Bookstore cashier.

She will be joining her parents, Ellis and Velma Schneider; brother, Ellis Schneider Jr.; sister, Mary McGuire; and grandson, Michael James Moore.

Survivors include her husband of 59 wonderful years, Richard “Jack” Moore of the home; two sons, Douglas Moore and his wife, Robin, of Lincoln and Rodney Moore and his wife, Tasha, of Wichita, Kan.; one daughter, Brenda Dooling of Wichita, Kan.; three sisters, Lorene Wright of Lincoln, Myrna Drake of Checotah, Okla., and Carol Bailey, also of Checotah, Okla.; eight grandchildren, Josh Moore and his wife, Kendra, Misty Cheatham and her husband, Dean, Laura Petty and her husband, Trent, Nathan Dooling and his wife, Abby, Seth Dooling, Brett Dooling, Taylor Moore and his wife, Kaela, Mason Moore and his wife, Chelsea; and nine great-grandchildren, Piercen, Noah, Derrick, Hudson, Cooper, Drew, Kate, Easton and McKenzie.

Family will receive friends from 6 to 7 p.m. this evening at Luginbuel Funeral Home in Prairie Grove.

Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 23 at Luginbuel Chapel in Prairie Grove. Burial will be in Summers Cemetery in Summers. No graveside service will be held.

Darryl W. Moore

GENTRY — Darryl W. Moore, 57, of Gentry died Sunday, Dec. 20, 2009, at his home.

He was born Sept. 8, 1952, in Mulberry, the son of John H. and Constance M. Bennett Moore. He was preceded in death by a son, Aaron Moore.

He was retired from the U.S. Army, having served in Vietnam and Desert Storm. He was awarded the Southwest Asia Service Medal with two Bronze Service Stars, Army Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal and other service awards. He was a member of Christian Life Church and Patriot Guard Rider.

He is survived by his wife, Ora L. Moore, whom he married July 17, 1987; three sons, Brian Moore of Fort Smith, Kevin Moore of Greenwood and Robert Moore of the home; a stepson, Jason Mackie of Springdale; a stepdaughter, Angelina Marshall of Fayetteville; his parents, John H. and Constance M. Moore of Van Buren; three grandchildren, Hunter Marshall, Ayden Moore and Taylor Mackie; three brothers, Larry Moore of Van Buren, Ronnie Moore of Florida and John Moore of Georgia; and a sister, Molly Mitchael of Van Buren.

Funeral service will be 1 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 23, at Moore’s Chapel in Fayetteville. Officiating will be the Rev. Tim Sallee. Burial will be in the National Cemetery in Fayetteville.

Visitation will be 5 to 8 p.m. today at Moore’s Chapel.

Trena Jeciade Smith

FAYETTEVILLE — Trena Jeciade Smith, 44, of Fayetteville and formerly of New Orleans, died Dec. 13, 2009, at Washington Regional Medical Center in Fayetteville. She was born April 6, 1965, in New Orleans to Edward and Dolores Cheneau Smith.

Survivors include a sister, Glenda Smith and husband Cortney of Fayetteville.

Cremation arrangements were by Benton County Memorial Park Funeral Home of Rogers.

Shelia Darlene Parsons

FAYETTEVILLE — Shelia Darlene Parsons, 46, died Dec. 10, 2009, at Washington Regional Medical Center. She was born Dec. 18, 1962, in Waldo.

She was a certified nursing assistant.

Survivors include her husband, Ellis; two sons; two daughters; two sisters; her mother; 12 grandchildren.

Services were held Dec. 14 at Fayetteville National Cemetery.

Arrangements were by Beard’s Funeral Chapel and Crematory of Fayetteville.

Elizabeth Wood

SPRINGDALE — Elizabeth “Betty” Wood, 85, died Dec. 19, 2009, in Springdale. She was born Sept. 26, 1924, in LaSalle, Ill., to Otto and Ida Schallhorn Maas.

She retired as a supervisor in the Franchise Tax Board from the state of California and was a Lutheran

Survivors include her husband, Charles; a daughter, Diane Wood of Seabring, Fla.; a brother; a sister.

Services will be held at a later date.

Brent Lale

HACKETT — Brent Lale, 37, died Dec. 20, 2009, in a Little Rock hospital. He was born March 12, 1972, in Fort Smith.

He was a strength coach for the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville.

Survivors include his wife, Deborah; a daughter, Avory Lale of Springdale; a stepson, Matthew Gooch; mother and stepfather, Delia and Bob Pfaff of Fort Smith; father and stepmother, Mike and Darla Lale of Van Buren; a stepsister; a brother; three stepbrothers; a stepgranddaughter.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Oak Cliff Baptist Church in Fort Smith.

Cremation arrangements were by Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home.
