Special consideration will be given to landscapes with historic or cultural significance that are accessible to the public and at risk of being lost. Forty photos will be chosen and displayed at the museum April 1 through May 31.

- ARKANSAS DEMOCRAT-GAZETTENew programs planned for event

First Night Fayetteville will mark its 12th anniversary Dec. 31 with “Dancing into the Decades,” a family-friendly New Year’s Eve program that promises more education outreach programs.

The event, set for 6 p.m. to midnight, will include a visual dancing gallery that showcases art pieces from area students and organizations. Based on interpretations of the word “dance,” the exhibit will include a four-panel pastel piece called “Dancing with the Elements,” which was created by kindergarten students at R.E. Baker Elementary School. The exhibit also features dancing apple dolls made by third graders at Bayarri Elementary School in Springdale and a short film from the national award-winning students at Fayetteville High School.

KIDSDANCE will make its premiere at this year’s First Night as well. The film, which was inspired by the “Slow Dancing” exhibit that the Walton Arts Center featured earlier in the year, showcases dance studios and students throughout Northwest Arkansas. Arts Live Theatre students will host the Community Dance Stage featuring the Africa Aya drumming dance troupe as well.

Admission to the yearly event, which will take place at the Northwest Arkansas Mall, is $10 for adults or $5 for children.
