Tulsa officer puts out car fire, saves driver

— A Tulsa police officer has saved a driver who was trapped in the fiery wreckage of his vehicle following a collision.

The Tulsa World reports that Officer Todd Henley came across a collision on Sunday after a vehicle left the roadway and hit a guard rail, flipping onto its side from the impact.

Police say the driver was trapped inside the vehicle, which started to burn from the heavily damaged engine. Henley used his fire extinguisher to put the fire out, and firefighters worked to extract the driver.

The driver was transported to St. John Medical Center. The driver's condition was not immediately known.

Police say witnesses reported that the car ran a red light and was driving recklessly.
