FLAGS HONOR VETERANS Sarah Wascura (center) helps girls with American Heritage Girls place American Flags on Saturday May 28 2022 at the foot of graves at Fayetteville National Cemetery. Around 150 volunteers of all ages placed flags on the 9,000 graves at the cemetery, said Jannie Layne (cq), chairwoman of the Fayetteville National Cemetery advisory board. Volunteers followed proper protocal while placing the flags. That included reciting out loud the name on the headstone so the vetern or veteran's spouse is not forgotten, Layne said. The cemetery's Memorial Day program, "Year of Our Youth," will be at 10 a.m. on Monday, which is Memorial Day.
