Jon Lawrence Larson, age 85, of Springdale, passed away January 22, 2022. Jon was born on November 13, 1936, at Pickwick Landing, Tenn., to Lawrence C. Larson and Evelyn Smith Larson. The family moved to Bloomington, Ind., which he always considered his hometown. In high school, he earned honors in wrestling. In scouting he was awarded the rank of Eagle Scout. He attended the University of Indiana, the University of Chicago, and the University of North Carolina, earning degrees in City Administration, City Planning, and Economics. He held the position of City Planner for the County of Fairfax, Va., until his retirement. Jon was a lifelong member of the Christian Science Church and devoted to it thousands of volunteer hours. However, his foremost effort for his faith was his Bible project. Over many years, Jon labored to create a revised version of the King James Bible in harmony with the language usage of Mary Baker Eddy, the founder of Christian Science. The fruit of his labor, The 2019 King James Version, is available free online at: www.2019kingjamesversion.org. Jon enjoyed many outdoor sports, including mountain climbing, whitewater kayaking, skiing, hang gliding, and sailing. He is survived by his wife, Mary Alice Kline Larson. He was preceded in death by two sisters: Sharon Larson of San Francisco, Calif., and Karen Larson of Los Angeles, Calif. An in-person memorial service, open to all who knew him, will be held at 3 p.m. on Saturday, February 12, at Unity of Fayetteville, 4880 West Wedington Drive, Fayetteville.
