Alice Lana (Lord) Odom, 80, of Fayetteville, Ark., passed away on July 21, 2021n in Fayetteville. She was born on September 22, 1940, in Hattiesburg, Miss., to Thomas Guy Lord and Essie Faye "Holly" (Hollingsworth) Lord. Raised in Mobile, Ala., in the home her father built, she graduated from Murphy High School in 1958. She then attended and graduated from the University of Southern Mississippi in 1962. After graduating, she married her high school sweetheart, Bobby Lee Odom, who predeceased her in October of last year after 58 years of marriage. She taught elementary school at Scott Elementary in Lafayette, La., and Root Elementary in Fayetteville, Ark. Lana was a member of the First United Presbyterian Church of Fayetteville. Proving her love of all things beautiful, she was an avid gardener and painter. She enjoyed volunteering, especially with the Meals on Wheels program. In addition, she found joy in participating in Bridge Club, Garden Club, Legal Auxiliary and visiting with friends at the Elks Lodge. She is survived by her three children, Conrad (Laura) Odom of Fayetteville, Jennifer (Scott) Walter of Oxford, Ohio, Holly Wimer of Fayetteville, Ark.; sisters, Carol "Sunny" Lord of Hattiesburg and Angie Sellers of Mobile, Ala.; an uncle, D.B. Hollingsworth of Gulfport, Miss.; and 10 grandchildren: Thomas (Lettie), Grace Anne and Isaac Odom; Chase, Elijah and Bella Walter; Jeremiah, Marco, Bruce and Ari Wimer. A private family service will be held at First United Presbyterian Church in Fayetteville, where she will be interred next to her high school sweetheart, Bobby Lee Odom. In lieu of flowers, the family is asking that donations be sent to either the Meals on Wheels America program or the Botanical Gardens of the Ozarks, 4703 N Crossover Rd, Fayetteville, Ark. 72764.
