Michael "Mike" Lantrip

Michael (Mike) Lantrip, 64, of Bentonville, Ark., passed away on February 8, 2021 in Tulsa, Okla. Mike was born April 11, 1956, in Little Rock, Ark., to James and Lola (McElyea) Lantrip. He was the youngest of seven children. Mike is survived by his wife of 45 years, Sandra (Sandy) Lantrip; his three daughters, Carie McMaster, Jolene (Joshua) Thomas, and Samantha (Timothy) Gall; seven wonderful grandchildren, Mikeal, Kendra, Laura, Cameron, Lola, Charles, and Andrew; his brother, Don (Darlene) Lantrip of Little Rock; and many nieces and nephews. Mike is preceded in death by his parents, James and Lola Lantrip; his brothers, James, Dale, Curtis, and AD Lantrip, his sister, Jewel (Evelyn) Bakalekas; and half-brother, Michael Goshen. Mike served in the US Army Rangers Unit when he met Sandy Peterson. They married October 25, 1975, and had their first-born daughter, Carie. Together they moved to Wardner, Idaho, where Mike worked at Bunker Hill Mines, and they welcomed their second-born daughter, Jolene. After the mines closed, Mike went back to school to get his Bachelors from North Idaho College. He later took a job in Hope, Ark., and the family of four moved to his home state. Shortly there after they became a family of five after the addition of the youngest daughter, Samantha. Soon Mike was transferred to Bentonville, Ark., where he finished his career as a NRCS Soil Conservation Technician with the USDA and retired in April of 2018. During his time in Bentonville, he became an active member of the Bentonville F&A Masonic Lodge #56, the Bentonville American Legion Post #77, the Bentonville Rogers York Rite Bodies, as well as, other fraternities and organizations. He loved the outdoors, especially, hunting, fishing, and camping with his grandkids, his girls, and his sons-in-law. Most of all he loved when the Army beat the Navy in football ... Go Army! Visitation will be held Friday, February 12, 2021, from 4:30 p.m.-6:30 p.m. and his funeral will be held Saturday, February 13, 2021, beginning at 10 a.m., both at Benton County Funeral Home located at 306 N. 4th Street, Rogers, Ark.
