Violet Rhea Piercy

Violet Rhea Piercy, age 88, of Bentonville, passed away July 4, 2020. Violet was born January 27, 1932 in Alpena, Arkansas. She was united in marriage to William "Bill" H. Piercy in 1949 and they enjoyed 70 happy years together. Violet and Bill lived in Springfield, Mo and later Garland, Tx, while Bill was an OTR driver for Kraft Foods. Violet devoted her life to tenaciously raising their three children, who fondly remember their mother's resolute toughness and incredible work ethic. In addition to what raising three kids required, she could fix anything around the house, sewed of all their clothing, and instilled her stubbornness into her children. All of the grandkids can testify to this fact. Violet and Bill returned to Northwest Arkansas in 1975 and raised cattle and poultry for 43 years on the same family homestead in which Bill was born and raised. Violet was often an immovable rock for family during trying times, and never complained at life's difficulties. Violet was preceded in death by her husband, Bill; her parents and four sisters; two grandsons, Aaron Turrentine and Ryan Turrentine; her daughter-in-law, Connie Piercy; and two sons-in-law Michael Blain and Vernon Meek. She is survived by her children, Linda Blain, William "Bill" E. Piercy, and Beverly Meek, all of Benton County; sister-in-law, Francis C. Piercy; eight grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren, and a host of relatives and friends. Violet passed in the same home as Bill (April 2019), on the land they so deeply loved and revered. Family and friends will miss her kind words, love of family gatherings, and her ability to tell an embarrassing story in front of significant others. Violet/Mom/Granny will forever be remembered for her work ethic, stubbornness, green thumb, and her magical ability to put up with Bill's crap. A private family gathering upon internment will be held in lieu of formal services. Arrangements are with Benton County Memorial Park Funeral Home, 3800 W. Walnut, Rogers.
