Paul Dean Dunnaway, of Gravette, Ark., passed away due to Covid-19, November 30, 2020, at Mercy Hospital in Rogers. He was born January 2, 1948, to the late Willie and Fleeta Dunnaway of Hiwasse. Paul attended school in Gravette, graduating in 1966. He joined the US Army in 1967 and served with the 4th Infantry Division in Vietnam from 1967 to 1968. While there he was awarded the Army Commendation Medal with "V" Device for heroism and the Purple Heart. In 1969 he married his high school sweetheart, Lana Moberly in Bentonville. Paul was a Christian and a yellow dog Democrat. He worked in sales, selling both new and used cars. He liked his job so much that he rarely felt like he was working. Paul enjoyed playing cards and dominoes and meeting with friends for coffee or breakfast. In his younger years, he played golf and softball. He was a people person who never met a stranger. Within minutes of meeting someone, he knew their story. He was known for his sharp wit and snappy comebacks. Paul was preceded in death by his sister, Sue Woods. He is survived by his wife of 51 years; son, Choate Dunnaway of San Diego; daughter, Sundee Hendren (Jeff); grandchildren, Drew Hendren and Paulee Hendren all of Gravette; brothers, Charles Dunnaway and Gary Dunnaway of Rogers, and sister, Ann Red of Centerton. Visitation will be held 5 to 7 p.m., Thursday, December 3. Funeral services will be at 1 p.m., Friday, December 4. Both are at Bella Vista Funeral Home Chapel. Pastor Richard Hart will officiate. Burial will follow at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery with Military Honors. Condolences may be expressed at www.funeralmation.com.
