Alice Joy Anderson, age 91, of Rogers passed away Thursday, August 6, 2020, at her home in Rogers. She was born May 31, 1929, in Centerton, Ark. She was preceded in death by her parents, Eura and Ruby Scoggins Duncan; her husband Lee Albert Anderson; her sisters Aileen Motley and husband Russell, and Betty Lou McVey and husband Dail. She is survived by her sons and well-loved daughters-in-law Steve (Andy) and Debi Anderson; Rusty and Charlene Anderson; beloved niece Diana Cobb; cherished grand and great-grandchildren Kayci and Chris McKinley; Anndee and Chris Stringer, Genevieve and Juliana; Eric Anderson; Tyler and Silena Anderson, Greysen, Ella, Aubrey and Oliver; and great-niece, Kacy Justice; and great-great-nephew and niece, Max and Ellie Justice. Joy passionately served her friends, family, and community. She was the oldest member of the Vaughn Presbyterian Church, serving in various roles, including Elder, faithfully leading, giving, cooking and working hard alongside her fellow church members throughout the years. Active in the Vaughn community since her days raising her boys on the family farm, Joy was the only person who attended every single Vaughn School Reunion over the course of 54 years. She was an avid reader, supplying her wide circle of friends with reading material. Several of her family members learned from her example and share her love for reading. She strove to keep active and involved in the lives of grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She attended countless ball games, recitals, concerts, and tea parties. Even in the last couple of years, you could find her on the floor, putting puzzles together with her great-grandchildren. She could be counted on to keep her own counsel, but if asked, all bets were off and she would tell you exactly what she thought. Whether you took her advice or not, she loved unconditionally. So many people were special to Joy, she chose several honorary pallbearers: Hector Amaya, Jimmie Borgerding, John Borgerding, Mike Brannon, Gary Harral, Neil Harral, Harriet Keck, Mike Kirby, Keith Pearson, Beth Perkins, Mike Perkins, Jack Perry, John Wall, Joan Webb, Chris Weiser. She dearly loved the music of Susan Anglin and Mary Baggett and wished for them to play at her service. In light of our change to a graveside service, we are honoring her wish by designating them Honorary Musicians for her service. A small family service was held at Rogers Cemetery on August 8, 2020 at 10 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Vaughn Presbyterian Church or Circle of Life Hospice.
