Edith Maxine Bates

Edith Maxine Bates, 93, of Bentonville died March 10, 2019 at her home surrounded by family. Maxine was born March 21, 1925 in Gentry, Arkansas to Allen and Hettie Delphia (Akin) Spiva. She was a loving wife and mother, having made her home on the family farm for the last 70 years. She was a member of the United Methodist Church and was devoted to the Children's Ministry and loved to sing in the choir. She is survived by three sons and one daughter, Gary Bates and wife Linda of Anchor Point, Alaska; Charles Bates and wife Dianne of Baytown, Texas; David Bates of Bentonville, Arkansas; Pam Andreasen and husband Ken of Shell Knob, Missouri; one sister, Geneva Williams of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma; nine grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Norman Bates; a son, Steven Bates; a daughter-in-law, Regenia Bates; and eleven brothers and sisters. Funeral services celebrating Maxine's life will be at 1 p.m., Saturday, March 16, 2019 at the Mt. Pleasant Church, Highway 72, Gravette. Interment will follow at the Centerton Cemetery.
