Daniel Tonymon

Daniel Tonymon, MD, 91, of Fort Worth, Texas and most recently of Fayetteville, Arkansas passed away peacefully on Tuesday, June 18, 2019 at his home. Dr. Tonymon was born in Marvell, Arkansas to Robert and Helen Tonymon. He practiced family medicine for 17 years in Marvell, Ark. and served 18 years as Head of Occupational Medicine with the Medical Surgical Clinic of Ft. Worth, Texas. He graduated from the University of Illinois in 1950 and served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War, he completed pre-medical studies at the University of Arkansas. Dr. Tonymon obtained his medical degree from the University of Tennessee Health Science Center. At the time of his death, he continued to maintain active medical practice licenses for the states of Arkansas, Mississippi, and Texas and was a member of the Tarrant County Medical Society and the Texas Medical Association. Daniel is survived by his devoted wife Susie Jeu Tonymon of 62 years; two loving children, Kenneth Tonymon, MD and wife Susan of Fayetteville, Arkansas, and Phyllis Tonymon of Fort Worth, Texas; five grandchildren and their spouses of whom he was extremely proud, Jonathan Tonymon of Little Rock, Lauren Tonymon of Fayetteville, Blake Alston of Fayetteville, Kristin Tonymon Foust and husband Jordan Foust of Bono, Matthew Tonymon and wife Sierra of Chesterfield, Mo.; his sister, Francis Pang of Springdale, Arkansas; as well as his many loving nieces, nephews and dear long-time friends. Daniel was a humble man who enjoyed reading for learning. During his dedicated medical career in Marvell, he was a physician known to be devoted to his patients and delivered numerous babies and made countless after-hours house calls to families throughout the region. In his spare time, he dedicated himself to continued medical education and was an avid lifelong learner. He had a love for animals and his family. A celebration of life service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, July 20, 2019, officiated by Reverend Audie Long located at Nelson Berna Funeral Home, 4520 N. Crossover Rd, Fayetteville, Arkansas. No graveside services will be conducted. Memorial donations may be made in Dr. Tonymon's name to the NWA Circle of Life Hospice located at 901 Jones Rd, Springdale, Ark. 72762.
