CTIC Eldon G Charlton 79, USN (ret) of Springdale passed away Wednesday September 19, 2018 at Willard Walker in Fayetteville. He was born January 11, 1939 in Oak Grove, Missouri to Wesley and Martha Boman Charlton. Eldon and Charlotte Rice were married January 16, 1959. He served in the US Navy, retired as a Chief Petty Officer. He worked for Lindsey Construction as a project manager and for Brunner and Lay as a machinist until he retired. Eldon enjoyed reading from the age of 4. He raised fancy show pigeons to study genetics. He loved natural history, had a passion for his family especially his grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Jannean Walker, brothers, Ernest and John Charlton, and a granddaughter, Rebecca Gonzalez. Survivors include his wife, Charlotte Charlton of the home; two sons, Stuart Charlton of Fayetteville and Christopher Charlton of Springdale; two daughters, Cynthia Green and husband Walter of Fayetteville and Anna Sizemore of Springdale; one brother, Gerald Charlton and wife Cindy of Glendale Pennsylvania; two sisters, Vera Howard and husband Francis of Joplin, Missouri and Joyce Hall and husband Don of Eufaula, Oklahoma; five grandchildren, Luis, Matthew, Andrew, Margaret, and Julie; two great grandchildren Ashton and Scott. No visitation is planned. There will be a memorial service on Saturday September 29, 2018 at 1 p.m. at Sisco Funeral Chapel with Military Honors, Pastor Bob Holloway will be officiating. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Springdale Public Library 404 S Pleasant Street Springdale, Arkansas 72764. Burial will be at a later date at National Cemetery in Fayetteville.
