Charles W. "Bill" Bean, 90, of Bella Vista, Arkansas passed away September 21, 2018. Bill was born August 13, 1928 to Asa Clarence and Helene Sweet Bean in Bois D'Arc, Missouri. He married Patricia J. Carrothers on November 25, 1948 in Madison, Kansas. She preceded him in death in 2010, as did his son, Charles W. Bean Jr., one of his daughters, Kristen L. Bean, his parents and his siblings. He was a member of Simsberry United Methodist Church. Bill followed his father into banking at First National Bank in Madison, Kansas, where he worked for 25 years. Upon retirement in 1975, he and Pat moved to rural McDonald County, Missouri, living off the land in a cabin on 160 acres. An accomplished woodcarver, Bill carved hundreds of ducks, loons, geese, herons, flying birds and whales; and produced beautiful carved canes. Many acquired his handiwork at War Eagle and other art fairs. For more than 25 years, Bill volunteered at Helping Hands in Bentonville, managing its book department for the majority of those years. Fascinated by the British Isles, he traveled there more than a dozen times with his best friends and two of his daughters. Bill considered himself "the richest man in the world". Even in adversity, he humbly shared his gratitude for a life graced with family and friends whom he loved dearly and of whom he was so proud. He is survived by three daughters, Kyle Cloutier of Bella Vista, Arkansas, Kimberly Bean (Jane Sadusky) of Madison, Wisconsin and Robyn Puntch of Springdale, Arkansas; six grandchildren, Garth Christy (Paulette), Taylor Brunner (John), Ben Puntch (Kate Schultz), Kasha Robl (Andy), Trey Anson (Amanda) and Jessica Anson (fiancée, Jordan Jones) and seven great-grandchildren. A visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m. on Monday, October 1 at Bella Vista Funeral Home, 2258 Forest Hills Blvd in Bella Vista, Arkansas. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Helping Hands, 2602 SW D. Street, Bentonville, Arkansas 72712 or Simsberry United Methodist Church, c/o Chris Beck, 222 Pine Tree Drive, Pineville, Mo. 64856. On-line condolences may be offered at: www.funeralmation.com.
