Larry Clinton Bohannan, 78, of Dover, Arkansas, passed away Aug. 29, 2018, at UAMS Little Rock. Larry was born July 30, 1940, in Huntsville, Ark., the son of Lawrence Clint and Velma Lee Jones. From 1961 to 1968, Larry was Band Director at Girard, Kan.; Greensboro, Fla.; Immokalee, Fla.; and Huntsville, Ark. In 1968, he joined his father Clint in the operation of Bohannan Grocery in Huntsville and upon Clint's retirement took over full operation. In 1979, he built the new Huntsville Food Center on Church Street in Huntsville, Ark., and was the second store in Arkansas to implement bar code scanning. In 1981, Larry bought Arkansas Food Center, Alpena, Ark., in partnership with Bill and Ellie Curtis. He became interested in computer programming while working with Data Terminal Systems which used Huntsville as a test store for the development of scanning software, and sold the Huntsville and Alpena supermarkets. Larry developed "EESE" supermarket scanning software sold throughout the U.S. and Canada by TEC cash registers. He established ComputerSmiths, building and selling custom-made computers to individuals, schools, and over the Internet. He sold ComputerSmiths due to health problems. Larry semi-retired and established AncestorStuff.com, an online bookstore selling genealogical publications. Larry is preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Naomi Jean Phillips of the home; one daughter and son-in law, Kim and David Woody of Mansfield, Texas and one granddaughter, Amy. Family visitation will be Saturday, Sept. 1, 2018, 6-8 p.m. at Humphrey Funeral Chapel. Graveside services will be held Tuesday, Sept. 4, 2018, at 1 p.m., at Lower Campground Cemetery near Kingston, Ark., under the direction of Humphrey Funeral Service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Arkansas Children's Northwest Hospital, 2601 Gene George Blvd., Springdale, Ark. 72762. Because of Larry's love for animals, memorials may also be made to the Russellville Animal Shelter, 3115 South Mobile, Russellville, Ark. 72802.
