Douglas Eugene Dobbyn, 87, passed away October 27, 2018, at Fayetteville. He was born June 29, 1931, in Shawnee, Oklahoma, to Wesley R. and Linnie Paddock Dobbyn. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and uncle; and an endearing friend to many everywhere. After courageously serving 22 years in the US Air Force, he retired as a cattle farmer in Clifty. He married Mavis Miles McHughes on August 1, 2003, at Clifty. Doug was a beliver in Jesus Christ, he and Mavis regularly attended services at Huntsville United Methodist Church and had been members of the Huntsville Presbyterian Church. He was 56 year member of the Masonic Fraternity, a past master of Huntsville Lodge #364 and had served as a District Deputy Grand Master. He was a York Rite and a 33rd Degree Scottish Rite Mason. He had served many times as Worthy Patron of Eastern Star Chapters having been a member in Huntsville and Fayetteville. He was a member of most of the honorary bodies of Freemasonry and had served as Intendant General for Arkansas of the Red Cross of Constantine. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Hildegard Stoisch Dobbyn; and one daughter, Deborah Dobbyn Steele. Doug is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Linda Dobbyn and David Meko of Tuscon, Arizona; his nephew, Charles Farley and wife, Nancy; his niece, Mary Jo Farley Reinhard; two step-daughters and son-in-law, Gannalyn McHughes Morris of Fayetteville; and Liz and Dr. Gary Decker of Tulsa; 11 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, and numerous great-nieces and great-nephews. The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m., Tuesday, October 30, 2018, at Brashears Funeral Home. Funeral services will be 2 p.m., Wednesday, October 31, 2018, in the Bruce Brashears Memorial Chapel with Dr. Gary Decker officiating. Interment will immediately follow services at Clifty Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Butterfield Trail Village, 1923 E Joyce Blvd, Fayetteville, Ark. 72703; or Shriners Hospitals for Children, 2900 N. Rocky Point Dr., Tampa, Fla. 33607. Services are entrusted to Brashears Funeral Home and Crematory of Huntsville.
