Roger Vinger, 79, of Springdale, passed away on October 18, 2018. A funeral service and visitation will begin at 9:30 a.m. on Tuesday, October 23, 2018, at Heritage Funeral Home in Springdale. He will be laid to rest with military honors in the Fayetteville National Cemetery at 11 a.m. Roger was born on July 20, 1939, in Davenport, Iowa to Marvin and Margaritte (Russell) Vinger. He worked as a meat cutter for Oscar Meyer in Davenport for 20 years. Pursuing his dream of farming, he purchased a dairy farm and relocated his family to Mountain Grove, Missouri. He later semi-retired to Florida and obtained his license to sell insurance. In 2011, he retired to Springdale, Arkansas, to be closer to his loving family. Roger loved to cook, bake, eat, story tell and laugh. He had many stories of his youth in Linwood, Iowa and many friends at Central High School. He told amazing stories of his young adult years in the Air Force and travels in Saudi Arabia and Africa. He loved to strike up a conversation with every stranger he would meet. Those left to cherish his memory are his brother, Rick Vinger of Davenport, Iowa; his two sons Jeff Vinger (Rhonda) of Springdale and Todd Vinger (Carol) of Reno, Nevada; and his two grandsons Ben Vinger of Austin, Texas and Nicholas Vinger of Springdale. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Richard, and his sisters Shirley and Beverly.
