Robert Edmond Westfall

On Saturday, October 13, 2018, Lieutenant Commander Robert Edmond Westfall, United States Navy Retired, age 80, passed away at his residence. Born January 29, 1938, in Kansas City, Kansas, Robert was the only child of Charles E. Westfall and Ida Bernice (née Thomas). Robert graduated in 1956 from Wyandotte High School in Kansas City, Kansas and attended the University of Kansas for one year before receiving his appointment to the U.S. Naval Academy in Annapolis. Upon graduation, Admiral Hyman G. Rickover recruited Robert for the US Navy Nuclear Submarine Program. After serving 20 years, he retired from the US Navy but not before attending and graduating with a Master of Science degree from the University of Southern California. After the Navy, Robert went on to work for Hughes Aircraft, and later Raytheon as a Senior System Analyst. Robert belonged to the US Naval Academy Alumni Association. He was an avid golfer, and a member of the GGG's, MGA and the 9-holers of Bella Vista. One of Robert's favorite past times was working in his shop as he was a fine woodworker. Robert is survived by his wife; Barbara A. Westfall, two sons; Robert E. Westfall Jr., (Michelle), of Leavenworth, Kansas, Michael David Westfall, (Monique), of Broomfield, Colorado, two grandchildren; Henry Westfall & Avery Westfall, one step-granddaughter; Loren Smith, one step-daughter; Julia M. Sieben, of Bella Vista, two step-sons; Joseph E. Sieben (Shelley), of Fort Myers, Florida, Michael R. Sieben, of Fort Myers, Florida, one step-grandson; Christopher M. Sieben-Ulcak (Paige), of MCB Kaneohe Bay, Hawaii and three step-great-grandchildren. A celebration of Robert's life will be at 11 a.m. on Friday, Oct. 26 at Village Baptist Church located in Bella Vista.
